YOUTH FENCING CAMP - 141110

Instructor:        Reily Mumpton
We'll explore an introduction to Western Martial Arts and the forms of combat pursued and developed within Medieval and Renaissance Europe. Students will learn the basics of Italian Rapier fencing, self-defense, courtesy and conduct within the martial arts community, and a history of swordplay. Bring comfortable, clean-soled shoes, a bandana (to help keep cool during class), as well as a water bottle and a snack daily. Be prepared to lunge into action!

If you are dissatisfied with a program after the first session/class, you must submit a written explanation to Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Dept before the second session/class to be eligible to receive a refund. A written explanation must be sent to [email protected]. In the event of an extended illness or injury, we must be notified immediately, and we will issue a pro-rated refund. A medical and/or doctor explanation will be required.

An effort will be made to schedule a make-up date if a class/program/ game is canceled due to any causes beyond our control. If this is not possible, no partial refund will be provided. Refunds will be applied as a Household credit unless otherwise requested. Processed refund requests will be charged a $25.00 cancellation fee. All refunds can take up to 3 weeks.

Participant Code of Conduct
In order to maintain a safe and peaceful camp environment we require parents and participants to read and understand the importance of abiding by the following code of conduct.

I will follow the program/camp schedule. I will bring only the listed items to the program/camp (no weapons, electronic items etc.) I will respect counselors, directors, and other campers by not using foul language, name-calling, or fighting. I will follow all safety rules set forth by the volunteers or staff.

Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Camp and Program Disciplinary Policy
Programs/camps are meant to be a fun, educational, and recreational activity. For the benefit of all participants, it is important that participants act appropriately while participating in programs/camps. If it becomes necessary to take disciplinary action against a participant/camper the steps that will be followed are outlined below:

1st Incident: The participant will receive a verbal warning and an explanation as to why the behavior is inappropriate (whenever possible, this will be done in a one-on-one setting removed from other participants).

2nd Incident: Staff will determine an appropriate consequence for the participant's actions (examples may include a "time out" or exclusion from participation in an activity). The participant's parents/guardians will be notified of their child's behavior when they arrive for pick-up.

3rd Incident: Parents will be called to pick their child up and the child will be removed from the program/camp for the day.

4th Incident: The child will be removed from the program/camp for the remainder of the season/program without a tuition refund for the remainder of that week. Please note if you enrolled in the following weeks of the program/camp, you will receive a refund excluding the cancellation fee.

IMPORTANT:
Examples of a situation that may qualify as an incident can be: not listening to staff or disruption of activities for other participants, disrespecting camp/program/park equipment, use of profanity or degrading language, bulling or exclusionary language, unwanted physical touch of another participant or staff.

Please note that the following behaviors may result in immediate removal from the program/camp:
Issues or behaviors resulting in safety concerns for the participant or others.
      A. One example is a participant/camper that runs away from staff.
      B. Another example is harming or threatening to harm themselves or others.
      C. A third example is a child using lude behavior of a racial or sexual nature.

Notes:   With a focus on fundamentals, this softball camp will help participants develop good habits and proper techniques that players will be able to utilize on the softball field.  Experienced coaches will help increase knowledge of the game, and build confidence at the plate.  All participants are required to come with glove, cleats or sneakers & bat (if you own one).  And pack a snack for a morning break.
**A minimum of 12 participants is required and a max of 24 will be accepted.**

Notes: The camp offers an opportunity to learn and enjoy many aspects of the game of soccer in a fun yet competitive environment. Fundamentals, as well as sophisticated techniques of soccer, will be taught, with an emphasis placed on the development, improvement, and refinement of basic playing skills. Players will need shin guards, a water bottle, and bring a snack.

Notes: At this camp, participants will be trained in the fundamentals of baseball. Each camper will receive personal attention to help improve their skills through the use of proper playing habits. Experienced coaches will use their knowledge to help players take the next step in their baseball
development. All participants must come with glove, cleats/sneakers & bat if you own one.

 Notes: Participants attending this camp will be trained in the fundamentals of lacrosse.  All campers will receive personal attention toward skill improvement and knowledge of the game.  Experienced coaches and Varsity players will help take campers to the next level of the game.  Please come with cleats/sneakers, a water bottle, a snack, a stick, a helmet & gloves, a lacrosse stick, a mouth guard and pads.

Pre-Camp Care:
There will be a pre-camp care drop-off program offered Tuesday through Friday each week from 7:45 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. The fee for pre-camp care is $5.00 per child per day. Please sign your campers up with the program coordinator on Monday for the remainder of the week, as we will be limited to 15 spaces each morning. Drop off will be at the Senior Area at the far end of the lower parking lot.

Please note, the week of July 4th we will only have the program Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday.

After Camp Care:
After Camp Care is from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. every day. Please sign up at the beginning of the week as space is limited and on a first come first serve basis. The fee for after-camp care is $5.00 per child per day. Pick-up for After Camp Care will be at the Nelson Withington Skating Facility. 

Notes: After Camp Care and Pre-Camp Care fees are not included in the weekly camp cost. Children will participate in arts & crafts, sports, games, archery, gaga ball, music, drama, hiking, swimming, special events and mindful activities.   Please take note of new registration and refund policy on inside cover.

If you are dissatisfied with a program after the first session/class, you must submit a written explanation to Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Dept before the second session/class to be eligible to receive a refund. A written explanation must be sent to [email protected]. In the event of an extended illness or injury, we must be notified immediately, and we will issue a pro-rated refund. A medical and/or doctor explanation will be required.

An effort will be made to schedule a make-up date if a class/program/ game is canceled due to any causes beyond our control. If this is not possible, no partial refund will be provided. Refunds will be applied as a Household credit unless otherwise requested. Processed refund requests will be charged a $25.00 cancellation fee. All refunds can take up to 3 weeks.

Participant Code of Conduct
In order to maintain a safe and peaceful camp environment we require parents and participants to read and understand the importance of abiding by the following code of conduct.

I will follow the program/camp schedule. I will bring only the listed items to the program/camp (no weapons, electronic items etc.) I will respect counselors, directors, and other campers by not using foul language, name-calling, or fighting. I will follow all safety rules set forth by the volunteers or staff.

Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Camp and Program Disciplinary Policy
Programs/camps are meant to be a fun, educational, and recreational activity. For the benefit of all participants, it is important that participants act appropriately while participating in programs/camps. If it becomes necessary to take disciplinary action against a participant/camper the steps that will be followed are outlined below:

1st Incident: The participant will receive a verbal warning and an explanation as to why the behavior is inappropriate (whenever possible, this will be done in a one-on-one setting removed from other participants).

2nd Incident: Staff will determine an appropriate consequence for the participant's actions (examples may include a "time out" or exclusion from participation in an activity). The participant's parents/guardians will be notified of their child's behavior when they arrive for pick-up.

3rd Incident: Parents will be called to pick their child up and the child will be removed from the program/camp for the day.

4th Incident: The child will be removed from the program/camp for the remainder of the season/program without a tuition refund for the remainder of that week. Please note if you enrolled in the following weeks of the program/camp, you will receive a refund excluding the cancellation fee.

IMPORTANT:
Examples of a situation that may qualify as an incident can be: not listening to staff or disruption of activities for other participants, disrespecting camp/program/park equipment, use of profanity or degrading language, bulling or exclusionary language, unwanted physical touch of another participant or staff.

Please note that the following behaviors may result in immediate removal from the program/camp:
Issues or behaviors resulting in safety concerns for the participant or others.
      A. One example is a participant/camper that runs away from staff.
      B. Another example is harming or threatening to harm themselves or others.
      C. A third example is a child using lude behavior of a racial or sexual nature.

Notes: Are you ready to ride faster and with more confidence? Come join us and see an immediate improvement in your riding skills. You’ll learn how changes in your body position, footwork, and where you are looking affect the way your bike behaves. Join us on rides covering the local terrain and trails. You must have your own bike and helmet. Participants should bring water with them, wear sneakers, and have a helmet.
